Who we are:

Hilary NilesIndependent journalist Hilary Niles founded Front Door Politics in Fall 2008. Trained in Documentary Studies, Hilary has worked for over six years in media ranging from local newspapers to public radio. As Program Director, Hilary helped to found Portsmouth Community Radio in 2004. She went on to establish the Editorial Board and serve as Personnel Director at the station. Hilary’s own audio work has been featured on the NPR Station Spotlight and broadcast nationwide on the daily news and culture program “Here and Now.” Hilary is Executive Director of Front Door Politics, responsible for editorial direction, business operations and community outreach.

Michael McCordMichael McCord, formerly the political and editorial page editor of the Portsmouth Herald, has covered state and federal elections, the State House and the economy during more than two decades working as a journalist. He was the Herald’s lead political writer, columnist and blogger for the 2008 presidential campaign and has received New Hampshire and New England press association awards for columnist of the year, feature and historical writing, and investigative reporting. He was also the news editor of the weekly Goffstown News and Merrimack-Bedford Bulletin. He has been published in more than 30 newspapers, magazines and journals, including New Hampshire Business Review, Boston Globe, Globe Sunday Magazine, Boston Herald, Stars and Stripes European Edition, Keene Sentinel, Nashua Telegraph, Union Leader, and New Hampshire Magazine. He is a graduate of Keene State College and a U. S. Army veteran. Michael will be the lead blogger for Front Door Politics, posting a daily review of debates and hearings in Concord, and letting us know what to watch for.

Freelance writer Larry Clow is based in Dover. He has written for a number of New Hampshire publications, including The Hippo Press, The Wire, and Foster’s Daily Democrat, and has covered everything from municipal development and education to arts and entertainment. When he’s not at his desk writing, Larry can usually be found at the movies or in search of a strong cup of coffee. Larry is our lead correspondent, bringing a more in-depth look at bills coming up for debate from week to week.
